01Getting started
Does the app include channels?
No. TiviGrid is a player only. It provides no channels, playlists or content. You need an Xtream Codes compatible account from a provider you choose, and you may only play content you are legally entitled to watch. We cannot recommend or sell provider accounts.
How do I sign in?
On the sign-in screen, enter the three details your provider gave you:
- Server URL, for example
http://provider.example:8080(includehttp://orhttps://and the port if there is one) - Username
- Password (stored in the iOS Keychain)
You can add more than one account and switch between them in Settings.
My provider gave me an M3U link. Can I use it?
Yes, if it is an Xtream Codes style link, which looks like http://server:port/get.php?username=NAME&password=PASS&type=m3u_plus. Paste it into the M3U field on the sign-in screen and the app reads the server, username and password from it.
Can I try the app without an account?
Yes. Tap Try the Demo on the sign-in screen. The Demo has 22 invented channels with a week of guide data, playing open movies and public test streams, so you can try the player, the guide and recording without any provider account.
Sign-in fails or channels do not load
- Check the server URL, including
httpversushttpsand the port number. - Make sure your account is active with your provider.
- Try the same details in a browser or another device to confirm the server is reachable.
- Some providers block connections from certain networks or VPNs. Ask your provider.
02Watching
What is a single-connection account?
Many accounts allow only one stream at a time. If a second stream opens (for example a guide preview while a channel plays, or a recording while you watch something else) the provider may cut both. TiviGrid reads the connection limit your provider reports for your account. When only one connection is allowed, it avoids opening a second stream and takes care that recordings and what you watch do not compete for the same connection. You can see the limit for your account in Settings.
Why is there no catch-up on some channels?
Catch-up only works on channels where your provider keeps an archive. The app shows catch-up for those channels automatically.
The guide is empty or wrong for some channels
Guide data comes from your provider. If it is missing, you can add an extra XMLTV guide address in Settings. The app matches extra guide data to channels by channel name.
03Recording
Why does recording on the phone need the app open?
iOS does not let apps keep recording a live stream in the background for long periods. On-device live recording works while the app is open or while a channel plays in Picture in Picture. Saving a catch-up programme is different: iOS downloads it in the background, so you can leave the app.
How can I record while my phone is off?
Use the free, optional TiviGrid Recorder. Run it on a computer of yours that is always on, such as a Mac, a NAS, a Raspberry Pi or a home server, and pair it in Settings › Recording Server. It records scheduled programmes and streams the recordings back to the app over your home network or your own VPN. Nothing goes through our servers. See the Recorder setup guide.
Where are my recordings and how do I export them?
Recordings play inside the app. To keep a copy elsewhere, export a recording as a .ts file to the Files app. Recordings are for your own private viewing only; see the Terms of Service.
04Purchases
What does Pro include?
Recording on the device (record now, programme recordings and manual timers), catch-up downloads, and the connection to your own Recorder. Prices: $1.99 per month, $14.99 per year with a 14-day free trial, or $34.99 once for lifetime access. Local prices are shown in the App Store. Family Sharing is supported.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the TiviGrid Pro screen in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Family members using Family Sharing can do the same.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose the TiviGrid Pro subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged again. See Apple's help page on cancelling subscriptions. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
05Privacy
What data does the app collect?
None. No analytics, tracking, ads or accounts with us. Your accounts, favourites and recordings stay on your device or on your own Recorder. Read the Privacy Policy.
